Winnebago County Animal Services is always looking for good people interested in volunteering. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation, dog and cat caretaker training, and purchase a volunteer polo shirt. Other training is available as needed.

All trained volunteers who purchase the volunteer polo shirt may also be considered members of the auxiliary that supports the shelter through fundraising and education. Auxiliary membership is available to volunteers who work at least 48 hours a year. Meetings are held at the Forest Preserve Headquarters on Bauer Parkway every first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm.

  • Petsmart cat adoptions and cage cleaning
  • Special events
  • Fundraising committee
  • Newsletter committee
  • Membership committee
  • Public Relations committee
  • Education committee
  • Foster home provider
  • Promoting adoption at local pet stores and
    other locations
