Cats Available for Adoption!!!!

Animal Services Temporarily Closes Dog Adoption Kennel

Two puppies at Winnebago County Animal Services tested positive for the Parvovirus on April 9, 2008. Parvo is a highly contagious disease characterized by bloody diarrhea. There is a broad range in the severity of symptoms shown by dogs that are infected with parvovirus. Many adult dogs exposed to the virus show very few if any symptoms. The majority of cases are seen in dogs less than 6 months of age, with the most severe cases seen in puppies younger than 12 weeks of age. Parvo may be spread by dog to dog interaction, clothing, food pans, and cage floors, etc. Cats are not affected by this parvovirus.

Animal Services highly recommends that you monitor your dog for the following warning signs: vomiting, diarrhea, lack of interest in food or water, excessive drooling, or lethargy. We also would like to encourage all pet owners to keep their pets healthy and safe by visiting their local veterinarian for an annual physical exam and rabies vaccination, or to contact their veterinarian if their pet is showing any signs of illness.

Dog Adoptions will resume on April 16, 2008 at 11am.

The more points we achieve determines the winner. If you send an email to a friend referring them to zootoo.com, then we receive more points when that referred friend signs up.
